Financial Aid Checklist

  • Step 1 A student must complete a FAFSA (Free Applicaiton For Federal Student Aid) to qualify for federal aid.  The FAFSA is also the applicaiton for the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship if you are a TN resident. Always file your FAFSA yearly by the February 15 Priority Deadline. You can file after February 15, but it could affect the availability of some funds, especially state funds. In order to receive Fall/Spring Loans you should file the FAFSA by April 1. Make sure you indicate that results be sent to Lipscomb. Our Title IV code is 003486. Click on (Steps To Apply for instruction to file your FAFSA)
  • Step 2 Approximately 1 week from the date of the filing, the Department of Education will send you and Lipscomb the information we need to prepare your Financial Assistance Award. Once you receive your Student Aid Report (SAR), review it for accuracy. Be sure to read the "comments" section and follow any instructions. If you need to make corrections to your SAR, make the corrections online and submit them to the Department of Education.  If you have been selected for verification, print and complete the appropriate documentation located on the "Verification" page.
  • Step 3 Enrolled Students: Check your Financial Assistance Eligibility and holds at myLipscomb by clicking on "My Eligibility" and the "Hold" link. If holds exist on your account this may prevent you from receiving financial assistance. If no holds exist you may proceed to Step 4.
  • Step 4 Review your financial aid awards by clicking on "My Award Information" and "Award By Aid Year". Choose the appropriate aid year and your financial aid package is displayed. These awards are only as accurate as the information you reported to the Department of Education on your FAFSA.
  • Step 5 There are certain items that may be required by the Department of Education or the Financial Aid Office in order to award financial aid. You can view these requirements that MUST be satisfied by clicking on "My Eligibility" and "Student Requirements". If a Federal Perkins Loan or Federal Stafford Loan is part of your financial aid package, instructions for those loan requirements can be found under the "Apply for a Loan" link. All loan requirements MUST be satisfied before you are eligible to receive any funds.

A financial aid census date will be assessed on enrolled hours before funds disburse to the student account each fall and spring semester. The census date will be taken after the last day to add classes.
