Steps To Apply

We want to make sure that you do not miss any important deadlines to apply for financial assistance.

That's why we've set up the following dateline, to make sure that you are meeting deadlines each step of the way. Even if you don't think you may be eligible for assistance, we encourage all prospective Lipscomb students to apply.

Remember that though we offer a number of non-need based merit scholarships at Lipscomb, we do request that families file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to be considered for all the aid available.

JANUARY

A separate application is not required for Lipscomb financial aid. Your application for admission is all you need. To be eligible for federal assistance, you must file a FAFSA. Complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. (To file online, you must get a separate parent and student pin number to submit at http://www.pin.ed.gov/.) Lipscomb's FAFSA code is 003486.  Be sure to indicate your housing intention on your FAFSA.  The priority deadline for filing is February 15, to qualify for the maximum federal and state aid.

FEBRUARY

Shortly after you file the FAFSA, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR.) If you have questions about the status of your report, you can call the federal processor at (800)433.3243. Review the information on your report carefully. If necessary, let us help you make corrections to this report. We may need to verify your eligibility. Please return all requested documents as soon as possible. If you are selected for verification, we cannot disburse any aid until after this process is complete.

 MARCH

The first awards are made at the beginning of March. When you receive your award letter, review the materials and return the appropriate documents to the Lipscomb Financial Aid Office. We will then credit your student account and begin processing any loans for which you applied. Sometimes awards must be adjusted to comply with federal and institutional policies. We may also learn of additional outside aid after we've made our original offer to you. If these adjustments are necessary, we will send you a revised award letter to let you know of the changes.

 BEFORE FALL SEMESTER

If you have a remaining balance after all financial aid has been considered, you may enroll in our payment plan with Tuition Management Systems, an outside financial services agency available to all Lipscomb students. If you choose not to take part in the payment plan, you will need to pay your remaining fall semester balance by the date designated on our Accounting Services website.

Make sure you attend one of our Advance sessions over the summer. You will learn about campus life, receive academic counseling, enroll in classes for the fall and begin to develop friendships with your classmates, all while getting a first-hand look at what it will be like to gain a degree at Lipscomb University!
